There are several versions of the Three Towers walk and purists will always stick to quite a long circular route of around 35 to 40 miles.
However, due to the sheer number of participants that we expect on the day, it has been decided to stick to a linear 40km / 25 mile route that will start in Ramsbottom and finish in Horwich. Ok, this is not the fullest way of doing the Three Towers, but it is more than enough distance to cover with a group the size of what is expected.
Overall, the full 40km walk is suitable for anybody with a good level of hill fitness and stamina who can handle a consistent pace of 5km/h, or 3 MPH. All information is available below but, please, if you are not a fast or experienced walker, for your own wellbeing and everybody else's, book your space sensibly.
The 28km starting at the Strawbury Duck is still a very challenging walk for most people. Walkers with a more moderate level of fitness might prefer the 17km stretch from Tockholes. After those who might be used to short walks really should consider Stage 4 only.
The walk is open to the public, meaning that anybody is welcome to come along.
ANY PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A RESPONSIBLE PARENT OR GUARDIAN.
Participants MUST dress appropriately for the weather and please do listen to advice given by
experienced walkers who will be helping to manage the group.

Some sections may take longer than expected depending on individual fitness, energy and experience.
Sponsorship is going to be managed online where people will be able to make donations securely. Some folk may wish to make cash contributions which will be gratefully accepted. Everything to do with funds raised will be operated entirely transparently.
The charities that have been chosen to benefit from this walk all carry out essential work in our local area.
A number of us in the outdoor community have wanted to put this together for some time as a means of
"giving back" something to these worthy organisations who work tirelessly to maintain
and improve our local countryside and make sure that we are safe while out enjoying ourselves.
Hopefully we will be able to raise a sizeable amount to help these three charities to operate.
More information will be available very soon but please feel free to email

The organisers, being Moors to Mountains and individuals from Bolton Walking and outdoors Appreciation Society cannot accept liability for any accidents or mishaps that may take place during the activity.

All participants must wear sturdy footwear, approved for use for the booked activity. Advice can be found from any reputable outdoor clothing retailer, and I am personally happy to give guidance prior to the activity. Please make sure you have used all items of footwear, clothing or equipment for a similar activity previously
